I know anxiety all too well. I hate it. I wish it would stop. It's driving me nuts and I don't know why I'm so anxious lately. Hope it goes away soon. Anyone else out there with anxiety/panic attacks??
I am finally feeling a little better and less anxious. I have always been a worrier, well at least as young as 14. I try my best not to, but it takes over me. I worry about anything and everything, from major things to the most mundane. I'm trying to learn better coping skills, otherwise, I'm a heart attack walking! :)
This is not surprising... anxiety causes a release of adrenaline, and in time you build a resistance to it and that isn't a good thing. I know that I don't handle stress very well, so I try to avoid it. I think it is true that "Laughter is the best medicine" because it counteracts the effects of stress. So, when you feel anxious, find things to laugh about.
bitemore: Good point! I think I'll take your advice on that! :) I try to avoid stress at all costs, but of course, it's not always so easy to avoid. Next time I'm stressed out, I'll try laughing. I may look crazy, but at least I might feel better! ;)

Never had a heart attack, but when I get anxious, mediation, music, going for a walk, read, sailing all are my "Mental Health Breaks" which make alot of difference as I hate that feeling of anxiety.

Tedd: I love sailing, but do not own a boat. I love being on boats. It is relaxing. Music and reading are also good. Sometimes I'll take a walk, if I need to clear my head. I've never tried meditation though. I hear it can help. Might be worth checking into...

I have found meditation pretty good, sometimes I think about that I am out on the water. I am a water nut, I am happy if near a beach and can listen to the waves or out on the water, then no anxiety at all :-)

You live in FL, Don't you have tons of beaches ? Sure will bottle some up today :-)

Tedd: Believe it or not, I cannot stand the beaches here, where I am. The water is warm and murky and the beaches around me are not the pictures they have on the postcards. I miss the beaches in Jersey though... big waves, sand, boardwalks, etc. There are some nice beaches in Florida (Clearwater, The Keys, Daytona, etc) but Clearwater is 45 minutes from me, which isn't bad, but you get tired of driving there on US 19 (one of the worst highways), The Keys are far away and I've never been to Daytona Beach. Can you tell I'm not a fan of Florida? I guess, like my name on here, I'm still a Jersey girl at heart. ;)

I know how you feel about FL beaches.....The other side is not so bad, I lived in Melbourne and they had some real waves and it was more like NJ was, but then moved to Tampa (Transferred Schools) and it was a whole different thing, little tiny waves and ugh, US19 !
Daytona Beach is fairly close to NJ beaches. I used to live in VA and went to Ocean Beach and love the big waves and boardwalks, those were cool.
Our water here is crystal clear and big waves, but COLD ! Yikes
Yeah, I never got too fond of Florida myself, too flat, too much the same stuff all over the place. The one place in Tampa I loved was CDB pizza :-)

Tedd: Very interesting life you've lead! I live near Tarpon Springs, which is 45 minutes from Tampa, on a good traffic day. I've been to Melbourne (once or twice) and I loved the beach there! Completely different than compared to the ones by me. Where do you live now? I thought I read somewhere that you live in Seattle, but I might be wrong...

Jerseygirl: I liked Tarpon Springs (not the water thou) the couple times I went there, I went to University of South Florida in Tampa and thats what ended me up in Tampa. I was at a different school in Melbourne and lived at the beaches there :-)
I live now in Redmond (Microsoft-land) which is about 15 miles outside of Seattle, its a great place as we have the mountains behind us and the ocean in front of us and not the nasty humidity that I had back in Virginia.
I wrote to you someplace else, but I loved Zombieland ! It was great, liked all the little Rules (Fasten your seatbelt and the examples of each) I was cracking up. It was very different then what I thought it would be. Glad that "Columbus" got his kiss at the end :-)

Tedd: Yeah, sorry. My computer runs slow and I don't see what someone writes me unless we write back and forth on the same article, during the same time. My computer is ancient and not updated, so unless we're posting back to back on the same article, I may be a little slow in reading what you write. :( Anyway, I went to Virginia once or twice and like it there. I've ALWAYS wanted to go to Seattle, but never made it there. Oh well...
