I must admit, I ace tip # 1, but I'm not that good at tip # 2 and I FAIL on tip # 4. What about you?

Ah, #2 is the ruin of me. Exercise I do when I'm not flaring bad, even then stretching exercises help. Lots of fluid always, I'm dehydrated all of the time.

Hi neenie! How have you been? Hangin' in, hopefully! I hope you are feeling well, my friend. :)

This is a good piece and it sounds so basic that many might think it trite but....do not be decieved. These very simple guidelines DO make a large difference. Although I do not "excercise" I do alot of yard work, try to move instead of sitting. Drink lots of water. Now, what can I do for this foggy brain of mine? lol jk. I try to read, play games etc. It all helps.

Hi Gaynel! How are you? Yeah, exercise is a hard one. I can only exercise in cool weather...the heat (and rain) flares me up way more than the cold, so in the cooler months, I am more active. Some people are worse in the cold, but I am much worse in the heat and rain...Living (now) in Florida doesn't help either, because it's hot and humid every day! Next month should be a little better. I tend to get more active around the end of September/early October. Can't wait!

Hey Jerseygirl! I hurt in the cold but, I have a problem with aerobics. I don't cool down and my heart rate stays high so I'm slow and methodic. You know, I just realized that I block out most of what I'm feeling physically and have for so many years that it's hard for me to discern what works best for me. I have compensated for so long that it has become part of my everyday existense. I don't take pain meds unless I can't move, I don't like the side effects. I guess that I have tried to manage the stress in my life as that can trigger some really bad times. I believe that stress plays a key role in most illness. They've proven that but I think it goes further than what we currently understand. Given that, plus the fact that I probably have hardwire problems, just makes all those little pathways in my brain light up and collisions and roadblocks pop up everywhere. So, my main focus is low stress (hah) and just moving the best I can.
Hope you're having a good day.

Hi Gaynel! Very true. I agree with what you said. My worst 2 triggers are stress and lack of sleep. Nothing hurts my body more, than when I'm in an extreme stress situation. Instantly, my body begins to attack itself and I'm in the absolute worst pain. Following that, is when I don't get enough sleep (almost daily for me). I try my best to avoid stress at all costs, but of course, it's just about impossible to do. I hope that someone can figure this all out for us in the near future. Too many lives are being robbed by chronic pain and fatigue. In the meantime, I wish you a less painful day, friend. :)

What other tips/habits are good to adopt, if you have Fibromyalgia? For me, I would say a decent, comfortable bed and pillows are crucial. Taking Vitamin D is important and heat wraps(I use Thermacare) or heating pads help me a bunch if I'm hurting a lot. Trying to get some sleep (as hard as it is) is also crucial to people with Fibro. What other sort of tips/habits are useful??

The heat, constant rain and humidity in Florida is so bad for my Fibromyalgia and arthritis and I would like to move (eventually) to a place that has cooler weather and less humidity. I wonder what states have the least humidity and best all around weather? I may need to look into that...

Hi Jerseygirl- Arizona is quite nice and offers just about anything the rest of the country might be able to offer in both beauty and things to do. You can float down the Gila river and then go snow skiing up in the mountains (well, actually the river is not open in the winter). The humidity is low, really hot though in the summer. We had a little cabin in the White Mountains and would go up there when it got too unbearable in the summer. There are ancient ruins all over the state, wonderful camping parks, hey, I wonder if I could get a job as a promoter? lol The state has changed so much in the past few years but you can still find little pockets of wonder.

Gaynel: It sounds fantastic! My grandmother used to rave about Arizona! She loved it. Sounds great to me... Floating down the river, skiing, exploring ruins, etc! What are the temps like in the summer there? Is it much worse than Florida? Our highs in the summer are about 94-97. Is it worse there in Arizona? I just remember my grandmother said it was hot, but she liked it there. But I want to try to escape the extreme heat and humidity. Do you also get all 4 seasons? Hope you don't mind all the questions?! :)

Jerseygirl- don't mind the questions at all! 97 in Florida would be like 105 in Arizona, but the humidity is SO low. Any temp 100 or below is very tolerable without humidity. There are four seasons if you don't mind driving up to higher elevation. But the spring in the desert is so incredibly beautiful. In under 3-4 hours drive you can access the whole state (born a Texan you can understand why I like that). But the only thing is that you need a pretty good chunk of change to live there, although I've seen some real estate listings recently that made my eyes pop out of my head. When I left Arizona about 5 years ago you could not buy anything worth living in for less than 250,000, which doesn't sound too bad until you start looking at what it bought you. I think the RE market there is totally in the dumps and you bargains could readily be found. Hum, maybe I should start looking! If you'd like more info I'd be glad to talk with you.

Gaynel, thanks for the info. It's something to keep in mind. Don't know if I could move anytime soon, but wanting (and thinking) of doing it in the future. Hope to chat more with you about these things as time goes by. Thanks again...:)
